On Friday, March 9th from 8-11pm, Odyssey House Louisiana hosted its first ever Project CONDOM at The Eiffel Society in New Orleans. Established in 1973, Odyssey House Louisiana is a non-profit behavioral health care provider serving residents of New Orleans who seek addiction treatment and counseling services.
Odyssey House's Project CONDOM, which organizers named “Prophylactic Prom,” featured eight groups of “Prom Court” members, including several local Krewes who performed throughout the evening
Designers for the event took full advantage of the 12,000 condoms ONE® donated, creating condom garments featuring a variety of exceptionally creative, colorful designs. One team even went so far as to create a dragon dog costume -- a first in the history of Project CONDOM!
To top off the evening, organizers assembled a "testing trailer" where attendees could get tested for Hepatitis C and HIV. An outreach team stationed at the trailer also distributed ONE® condoms to attendees, prompting jokes about how there wouldn't be any prophylactic prom babies following this year's event.
According to Event Coordinator Maggie Sandison, the Prom attracted 150 attendees and was a tremendous success. Consequently, Sandison believes that next year's event will attract even more participants and attendees.

Prophylactic Prom aligned perfectly with Project CONDOM's mission to generate positive discourse around safer sex through outreach, fashion, and conversation.
