About
Born in isolation, Hesitant began as a series of home recordings from Brooklyn-based musician Brandon Reese during the pandemic lockdown. Taking influence from the groove of grunge, the haze of shoegaze, and the heft of doom metal, the project kicked into high gear with the release of 2023’s Seasons of Grief – an EP written in the wake of the sudden loss of a friend and former bandmate – via Portland, OR’s Pleasure Tapes.
Following the EP’s release, the project evolved into a full live band which has had the pleasure of supporting international touring acts such as Electric Citizen, Anciients, Howling Giant, Sons of Arrakis, and Ritual Arcana. In late 2025, Hesitant released their first original single in nearly 2 years, “some light”, which was soon followed by “cold dead heart” in early 2026.
With an ever-growing slate of live dates in and out of NYC in 2026 and more new music being recorded this summer, Hesitant’s ambitions are anything but. Find them on tape, on stage, or online at @hesitantnyc.
