Awaking State blends the best of electronica, hard rock, industrial and drum‘n’bass into a new genre-bending style. In 2005, founder of Awaking State Kent Martell created the band after a face to face meeting with Trent Reznor. Fast forward to 2007, when Awaking State released their debut EP “Into the Machine”, produced and engineered by multi-platinum selling veteran rock producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down, Johnny Cash). Later that summer, they released “IntoThe Machine”-The Remixes EP. In June 2009, Awaking State flew back to California to record some of their new material with Sylvia Massy again. After returning to Canada, Awaking State returned to Cutting Edge Music Festival ’09, and performed at The Barrie New Music Festival, and toured with some well known local acts. In the summer of 2009, a fan nominated the band for the ‘SPIN/Airwalk Unsigned Hero’ contest. Out of thousands of bands in North America, Awaking State was chosen by Airwalk into the top ten. They were also the only Canadian band to ever be chosen for the contest. All this at the same time as their collaberation with New Zealand Electro-rockers 'Antiform' hit the NZ charts. Recently the band was heard on 'Explore Music' with famous Canadian radio personality, Alan Cross.
